Exhibition design and campaign to celebrate 50 years of People Magazine at Fotografiska New York. The magazine’s first-ever museum exhibition showcased a unique archive of covers and photographs from the magazine, as well as multimedia animation created to document it’s history.

For the 50th anniversary of People Magazine, Fotografiska New York hosted a unique exhibition that chronicled five decades of pop culture through the magazine’s iconic covers and photographs. Our team was tasked with creating the exhibition design and an accompanying campaign that would honor this milestone. This was People Magazine’s first-ever museum exhibition, showcasing a carefully curated archive of its most memorable covers and images. We designed a multimedia experience that included an in-depth animated film, which documented the evolution of the magazine’s design across the decades.

This animation served as both a historical overview and a celebration of the visual storytelling that has made People Magazine a cultural touchstone. In addition to the film, our work extended to the design of the exhibition itself. We focused on highlighting the magazine’s rich photographic legacy, which has been shaped by some of the greatest photographers of their generation, such as Harry Benson, Gordon Parks, and Art Streiber. Our design work emphasized the power of these images, drawing visitors into the compelling visual narrative that has made People Magazine a household name. The marketing campaign we developed ran alongside the exhibition, further amplifying the impact of the display and inviting a broad audience to engage with this landmark celebration of pop culture.
